Beginners Workshop: Into the Amazing World of Watercolor

This video is the recording of a live online workshop Dr. Qinghong Wei taught on Zoom. The students loved it and now it is available for you. The recording is a high-definition video of 1 hour and 40 minutes long.

Learn the essential ways of watercolor and start to paint your own amazing watercolors! This workshop is for both curious beginners and more experienced artists who want to loosen up in painting.

You can enjoy watercolor and create mesmerizing art at any level of skills, and the wondrous artist Dr. Qinghong Wei will show you how. You will be guided through a series of well thought out exercises and demonstrations to learn the three essential elements of watercolor painting. You will learn:

1. How to set up for watercolor painting, and especially, how to prepare the most essential instrument of artmaking, which is the artist herself.

2. Basic brushwork technique and learning with playing.

3. Understand color theory intuitively.

4. Introduction to the Wet-in-Wet technique.

5. Paint a little rose bud by applying everything we have learned.

The theme of the workshop is roses, a delightful subject to learn watercolor. Even more excitingly, Dr. Wei will share with you her unique ways to engage intuition and feelings in painting, so that you can paint with more freedom, joy, and amazement at any skill level.
