Watercolor Workshop: Improve Your Watercolor with Traditional Chinese Brushwork
This video is the recording of a live online workshop Dr. Qinghong Wei taught on Zoom. The students loved it and now it is available for you. The recording is a high-definition video of 1 hour and 10 minutes long.
Learn fascinating new ways to engage the brushes, and paint watercolor with more Flow, Freedom, and Life.
Qinghong's watercolor style is known for being loose and captivating, soft and vibrant, influenced greatly by the traditional Chinese painting that emphasizes the efficacy of brushes. At this workshop, she taught her unique technique with three different subjects – ocean sunset, fire, and flower bouquet. You will be guided through these carefully thought out exercises and paint a variety of subjects. You will learn:
- How to understand and engage subtle energy changes in the brush,
- How to paint with both wholeness and details, by varying the shapes your brush can create,
- How to paint different subjects with just one brush, from start to finish, and
- The Eastern art philosophy that will enrich your own unique artistic journey.
This workshop will help you gain both practical skills and inspirations that will bring your art to the next level with more freedom and joy. Here is what the students say:
- “Thank you for a great educational and creative session!”
- “A great teacher! You explain everything in such clarity and are easy for me to relate.”
- “Inspirational! Now I am hooked on the Chinese brush!”
You are also invited to join Dr. Wei's private Facebook group, Starry Dreams Art Group, to post your questions and paintings, where Dr. Wei is actively engaged with students and artists friends.
